Bob Dole was born on July 22, 1923 in Russell, Kansas. He served in World War II was injured during battle in Italy. Then went to college and was first elected as Russell County attorney. Then in 1960 was elected to congress and served four terms. In 1968 was elected to the US Senate and served until he resigned in 1996 after he was the Republican nominee for the US President. That took courage to risk it all to serve your country for the highest office. I did not support his bid for the presidency. I supported another WWII veteran by the name of Ross Perot during that election. This inspired Dino Rossi to due to the same thing in 2004 during his first statewide campaign for Washington State Governor and current Alaska Governor Mike Dunleavy who resigned his state senate seat in 2018 to seek the Governorship. We need more leaders like Bob who put others first before himself. Rest in Peace Bob because other veterans are waiting for your arrival. This country would not be better without your service.
