Alaska State Alcohol blacklist is bad for recovering alcoholics
Recently a few Anchorage businesses have suggested a blacklist not to sell Alcohol to problem residents of mainly Anchorage. How long does this list last and what if all business choose not to follow the list. This list is voluntary. What if a person on the list changes their life around two to three years down the road. Do we only have the list for a year that the person who changes their life two years down the road does not get blacklisted because of a past behavior they received a couple of years ago. I support a blacklist of current people who can not handle their liquor but to keep a blacklist this puts a wall of shame and will continue to create a division within Anchorage. Most of those blacklisted will be Alaskan natives. Elizabeth Petratrovich back in 1946 fought successfully in the Alaska territorial legislature against Alaskan native discrimination this blacklist would bring that back. Please tell your legislators in Alaska no blacklist be allowed.
Lets have the Anchorage Tennis facility at the Loussac Library
Monday, April 7th it was suggested that the Alaska Legislature the money for the Anchorage Tennis facility be diverted to help with repairs for the Loussac Library. Since the Anchorage Library campus has plenty of land. We could have the tennis courts at the library along with a transit center there as well. This way you go to the Library you can play tennis too. Since the Anchorage Assembly meets there twice a month. Maybe after or before the assembly meeting. Mayor the mayor would like to challenge an Assembly member to a tennis match. Tennis, Assembly meeting and buses great combination. Let's build the tennis facility at the Loussac Library instead.
Alaska Governor Sean Parnell needs to start nominating Alaskans to boards and commissions
It is time that Alaska Governor Sean Parnell start nominating talented Alaskans for boards and commissions. There are many qualified Alaskans that are eligible for many boards and commissions with the State of Alaska. You do not need to go out of state because they gave money to your political campaign you need to reward them with a board or a commission seat. You should look for talent within Alaska to fill a seat on a board or commission. Local is best they know what is best for the state. Remember you are governor of all Alaska not just a select few and oil tycoons. Remember we put you in their to clean up government not for further corruption. Please consider Alaskans when you decide to choose someone for a board or a commission thanks.
Arizona governor did the right thing by vetoing anti gay measure
February 26, 2014 Arizona Governor Jan Brewer made a brave decision to veto the anti gay measure. The main reason is had she signed the bill it would had cost the state a lot of tourist dollars. It also save Arizona's tax money by not having to be sued by groups who believe that marriage should between allowed by same sex couples. Remember though just like in the Cakes by Melissa which was done by a disgruntled customers it was never about discrimination. They did not mention the customers were rude to the owner that is the real reason they were denied service. They used the homosexual reason to get attention to cover up that they were rude. Praise Arizona Governor Jan Brewer for thinking her states welfare and saving state taxpayers dollars.
Lets consolidate the Emergency dispatch centers for Matanuska Susitna Borough and Anchorage Municipality
Here is cost savings for both the Anchorage Municipality and Matanuska Susitna Borough have the two boroughs combined their emergency response dispatch centers. You would have two locations for emergency dispatches one in Palmer and one in Anchorage. The Anchorage center can handle the overflow of calls from the Matanuska Susitna Borough. This would also save taxpayers money by always having someone on duty to answer calls at both dispatch centers. This way someone in the Matanuska Susitna Borough does not have to worry about having the Alaska State Troopers take over during the early morning hours. Both boroughs can share the cost of updating the software of dispatch software. Please have the Matansuka Susitna Borough considered consolidating with the Municipality of Anchorage for emergency dispatch service.
Raising the minimum wage kills American jobs
It seems that people think that raising the minimum wage will create more jobs when you raise the cost of labor which is majority of a business expenses you have to two choices either you raise prices to keep the personal you have this will result in people not coming to your business or you lay off workers to keep the same level of expenses you have and keep your customers coming. Most employers will choose the second over the first. Most employers do not enjoy laying off workers. Most employers usually pay workers above the minimum wage so they can keep and attract workers. You can also improve your ability to get a higher paying job. If you demand a higher wage then you have less jobs as a result. These fight for 15 folks left over from the Occupy Movement do not understand that if you pay higher wage you have to compensate someone most business like to control cost.
President Obama, Treasonist Secretary of State Kerry need to respect the will of the Crimean people
It is time our state department needs to respect the will of the Crimean people and stop putting down Russian for defending its people. That would be the same if we went to Mexico to put down an uprising and Russia interfered we are doing the same thing. We need to stop meddling in affairs that not in threat of our national security. Remember traditionally Ukraine was a part of Russian. Most Ukrainians are allied with Russian ideas and traditions it is in the best interest for Russia to help ethnic Russians just like Americans are in defending Latin American. Please respect the Crimean people and stop attacking Russia for defending their ground.
Alaska has improved since earthquake 50 years ago on March 1964
March 27, 1964 a 9.2 earthquake shook South Central Alaska caused 131 deaths most were Alaskans in coastal towns. Since then Alaska has still be a tourist destination for many Americans. Alaska has grown to a population of nearly 800,000 people with Anchorage at nearly 300,000 resident which it was only at 100,000 back in 1964. Many coastal towns also grew twice there size since the earthquake. Valdez became a major hub for oil companies. Seward became more a tourist trap. Homer and Kodiak became great places for commercial fishing. Many towns also perished during the disaster such as Afognak and Kayguyak. The Tsunami Warning system was developed and stricter building standards were developed for buildings in the earthquake zones. Anchorage spread out beyond their downtown core settled in area previous not really settled in like Muldoon, Anchorage Hillside, Lower Hillside, Dimond and Sand Lake areas. Question is will Alaska be ready for the next big earthquake. I think it will be and our emergency responders will help each other in a natural disaster.

Democrats may have the edge in Anchorage based legislative races due to Anchorage Ordinance election
Due to Anchorage Ordinance 37 repeal being on the General Election ballot. Democrats may have the edge in some legislative races due to the fact that the Union thugs will have their voters out to continue this defiance of their work conditions. These unions will continue to say that the Sullivan administration who wants to save taxpayers money not have these top heavy contracts that Anchorage taxpayers can not afford. Most of these union thugs support Democrat candidates this could afford some swing races. Lance Pruitt and Gabrielle Ledoux will be affected in East Anchorage. Lance Pruitt may have heavy financed former union boss Harry Crawford who once held the seat for six terms he also beat the former speaker the Late Ramona Barnes. Gabrielle Ledoux has a lady opponent who maybe using Gerran Tarr and Pete Petersen tatics to try to unseat her. The other current legislators that maybe effected are Charisse Millett maybe facing Patti Higgins this would be a rematch. This district had once had Berta Gardner. Craig Johnson may also be vulnerable who won his seat narrowly in 2010. Chris Tuck who is considered to be vulnerable may be safe as a Les Gara. Eagle River, Anchorage Hillside races will continue to have Republicans represent them.
Aftermath of Anchorage Municipal Election
Last Tuesday voters in Anchorage have decided that the last two years of the Anchorage Assembly may have a progressive leaning. However since Dick Traini has no intentions of being the mayor of Anchorage. My prediction is that Paul Honeman will become the chair of the assembly with Elvi Gray-Jackson as vice chair. If Dick Traini gets any grand idea to repeal Anchorage Ordinance 37 he needs to have eight votes to override a Sullivan veto. Now if Dan Sullivan becomes Lt Governor then Interim mayor Paul Honeman could suspend the actions of Ordinance 37 if the voters do not vote it down in the previous November election. The results may be 6-5 against the mayor. You need to examine each member. For the next month the Ernie Hall controlled assembly could pass some ordinance that a Honeman assembly may have to deal with. Ernie Hall ran as Lt Governor in 2002 has part of the Fran Ulmer he is a Democrat who may decide to vote with this majority. Bill Starr is also unpredictible then there is the stoaway Patrick Flynn who does not make up his mind till vote time. It is too bad that voters in East Anchorage have decided to support Pete Petersen. We do have two new kids on the block which are Bill Evans and Pete Petersen. School Board decided to keep the overspenders Pat Higgins and Kameron Perez-Veredia as we know the Alaska Democrat Party and Anchorage Education Association choose your school board. You can also blame Don Smith's gaffe for Kameron's victory. Prediction if Paul Honeman wins the 2015 Anchorage mayors race then Mao Tosi could be his replacement. Let's enjoy the ride on SS Anchorage as the players on Assembly island change.
