The real reason most places in the United States have waiting list for severe Autism Spectrum Disorder patients.
Now days most classroom teachers and pediatricians want to prescribe medication over the love of a parents. Medications like Ritalin and other psychological drugs actually prevent the developing brain from growing properly during the time of the child's development. The real reason for this allows the parent to claim the child and put them on permanent Supplementary Social Security Income which actually prevents them from becoming productive members of society. Usually the child's teacher makes this recommendation so they can justify the student to put in special education which brings more money in the school district for that child. The federal government pays more for special education students over the regular students. This also make more revenue for the drug companies and the pediatricians who prescribe this drug to the student which prohibits creativity and expression of the child. The teachers teach these students they will not be productive in society and they must depend on the government to function in society.
You would have less children waiting for services if the parents are more involved in a child's education and services. This allows the special needs child to develop and flourish. They become a more functioning adult. The best thing for a parent of a special needs child is to say no to the special education teachers when they insist that the child be given medication to flourish. Remember allowing the child the ability to have expression is the only way to prevent the special needs child from becoming a statistic and a burden to the taxpayer.
