Alaska's organized boroughs should be required to form their own police Department

All of Alaska's organized boroughs do not have their own police protection. They must contract with the Alaska State Troopers to provide police protection outside of an incorporated city. Only Anchorage, Juneau and Sitka have borough wide protection due to charters. Boroughs such as the Kenai Peninsula and Matanuska Susitna Borough should be required to form their own police force. This will allowed residents outside of cities like Kenai, Homer, Seward, Soldotna, Wasilla and Palmer better police protection. This also frees up resources from the Alaska State Troopers they should only be patrolling major highways that have a big dipper on them only assist the borough police departments when asked. They also should be patrolling the Alaska Marine Highway and nothing else. This also gets the locals more involvement with the police protection in their own community. We also need to replace the Village Public Safety officer program with someone who is actually chosen by the village to be the officer. The Alaska villages are more likely to respect their own kind instead an appoint from a community not of their culture and tradition. If this requires a constitutional change in the Alaska State Constitution then that is what we need.
