Kodiak Island, Kachemak Bay, Aleutians and Alaska Peninsula had a Tsunami Warning overnightTsunami Warning
I stayed up til 12:30am listening to a Kodiak Island public radio KMXT and glad that island citizens took the warning seriously. The quake was a 7.8 quake in the Richter scale at 10:13 pm 75 miles SW of Chignik. Many Kodiak citizens went to place like Pilar Mountain, Safeway and Walmart. My former high school principal Larry Ledoux the Kodiak Island Borough superintendent open the local high school which has always been an evacuation center since I lived there as a teenager in the late 1980's.
