Anchorage cab customers will have to pay a dollar extra using a credit card in a cab

Anchorage Assembly voted on Ordinance 2016-132 and 2016-140 at the December 20th meeting to add a $1 charge for credit card customers to help the cab companies off set the cost of processing credit cards.  This will happen til probably sometime in March or April 2017.  To avoid this charge you can always pay cash when getting a cab.  Most customers will not even notice the charge. 

Anchorage Taxicab Permit Owners Association want Anchorage voters to decide to increase cabs in Anchorage

Recently greedy permit owner Susie Smith one of the owners of Taylor Leasing is sponsoring a referendum to repeal the recent cab ordinance that passed called 2016-124.  They want the people of Anchorage to decide if they need more cabs in Anchorage.  The truth is these owners would rather keep money in their pockets then improve service in the industry.  Anchorage Taxicab Permit Owners Association believe these permits have value when they real do not have any value.  People have ask for improvements in taxi service since 2001 it time to listen to the people not to greedy special interest.  They will need 5700 signatures to get it on the April 2017 ballot. 

Anchorage Assembly voted to make it easier a resident to get a cab in Anchorage

December 20, 2016 the Anchorage Assembly voted 8-3 on ordinance no 2016-124 proposed by assemblyman Bill Evans to allow residents to have more access to get cabs.  They found out by putting more permits making them more available will.  Residents will get more cabs at bar break and at busy times.  By increasing the cab  fleet you increase quality in the industry.  There will be plenty of work even with added cabs.  Next year there will be an auction for 20 permits.
