Political Correctness has really changed the quality of the Portland Police Bureau

It is a shame one of the best large city police departments on the West Coast where other major cities once sent their new recruits a couple of weeks for urban police training.  This police department before May of 2020 had the best arrest records of any major city on the West Coast.  The politicians like Ted Wheeler out of Portland and their Metro city council put politics ahead of policing.  If you had infraction in Portland your actual resting place ended being at the Multnomah County Jail.  Want an example of this just watch old episodes of COPS and JAIL.

Due to political correctness most of the Portland police officers due to lack of staffing refuse to arrest for lower level crimes like shoplifting and tagging a business.

Many large businesses have moved out to lack of law enforcement and refusal to arrest chronic law breakers.  Portland used to be place criminal did not want to come to.

If this continues Portland and both Seattle will be where mental illness stays.  By the way turning out the lights are impossible due to fact these lights are created by solar panels with electric batteries.

The real reason that Mitt Romney choose not to seek reelection as Utah's junior US Senator

Utah is a state where the party can choose their nominee not the people through a state convention process.  In 2010 The Utah Republican Party choose Mike Lee the current senior US Senator over Bob Bennett to represent the Republicans in Utah for election.  Mitt saw the tea leaves written on the wall knew that the state Republican leader would replace him with another candidate.  Now Utah Republicans can now elect a common sense candidate to replace him.

Time to single district the Anchorage School Board

Originally written on April 27, 2020

Now that Two for all passed in the Tuesday, April 7th, 2020 municipal election.  We need to put six of the seven Anchorage School Board members in a single district.  One member will be at large and run in 2027 the same time as the mayor.  What we could do have all 7 members of school board run for election in 2025.  Seats A, B and C will run for a full three year term this will cover Assembly Districts 1, 2 and 3.  Seats D, E and F will run for a two year term then in 2026 will run for a full three year term this will cover Districts 4, 5 and 6.  Seat G will ban at large district will run for a one year term then in 2027 run a three year term.  We could also make it so the at large district person is paid more and is also the chair of the school.  This makes so the people choose the chair of the school board not the school board.  Now let's put more accountability in our school board by having them represent the neighborhood instead of having them campaign the whole city for a school board seat.  Have each school member be as neighborly as an Assembly member.

Could Chris Tuck end up as the next mayor of Anchorage?

This article was originally written on August 29th.

The video above is Chris's views on Homeless problem which he has a perspective that we need even fresh eyes on this issue.  Maybe he will adopt what Mayor Bruce Harrell who was elected in 2021 in Seattle who's parents are friends of Quincy Jones.

Could Chris Tuck become the next mayor of Anchorage here is why.  Chris unlike Suzanne and Dave are on the current Anchorage Assembly scene.  Chris has in the state gone against his party in the legislature by voting for the maximum amount of PFD provided by law.   He will be more like a Mark Begich type of mayor who kept property taxes down.

Not only will he have Republican support he also has Democrat support as well with people like Elvi Gray-Jackson who served as State Senator and former legislature.  I also believe he could be like Rick Mystrom in 2003 which many conservatives supported him over Wuerch.  Due to a retroactive proposition that lowered the threshold for Mayor to 45 percent plus one that is how Mark Begich was elected without a runoff.

She and Harriett Drummond who were the Assembly together just Harriet got a 6 year head start in Juneau over Elvi have already endorsed him.  I would not be surprised that Bill Wielechowski who is a State Senator I voted for recently in the 2022 even though I meant to vote for his opponent.  Decides to support him.  I will also be surprise of some members of the current Assembly choose to support him over Suzanne.  I will not be making blog endorsement until probably March.

Could Tuck end Bronson as mayor we shall see.

Current North Bend Cafe owners keep the Twin Peaks Tradition alive at historic diner

It is great that Twede's Cafe owners Rachel Bennet and Mark Spears have decided to keep the Twin Peaks tradition at this historic diner which was built in 1941 at the SE Corner of North Bend Blvd aka SR 202 and North Bend Way.

As everybody in my hometown of North Bend knows that Twin Peaks really help the tourist industry in the Upper Snoqualmie Valley in the early 1990's when the environmentalist ruined the logging industry for timber towns in Washington State.  In 1941 North Bend was starting to transition into a trucking town the complete transformation did not happen til about 1975.  Tourism is what save most logging towns in Washington State from becoming ghost towns in the 1990's.

Here is a link to their website if you to order food or check their menu.  https://www.twedescafe.com/

This cafe started as Thompson's Cafe in 1941 then in the 1950's the name of the cafe was changed to the Mar T Cafe which became an iconic landmark of the rural town.  From 1990 to 1993 this place was known by the pretend name of the Double R Diner in the show Twin Peaks which only lasted one season on ABC in 1990 they did make a movie known as Fire Walk with Me which was before the actual show.  The current owners bought the diner in 2020 as Twede's Cafe which was rebuilt after a fire in 2000 and renamed.

This diner has been a stable of Snoqualmie Valley history since 1941 as a place for locals to gather and tell stories about their day.

Please continue to eat at this historic cafe and enjoy a piece of Snoqualmie Valley lifestyle and history in my home town.
