TriMet here is an idea eliminate transfers do a day passes instead

TriMet may one of high priced board of directors needs to visit the Metro Transit System in Seattle or go to Alaska ride the People Mover transit system in Anchorage.  Both Seattle and Anchorage eliminated transfers covered to day passes at a reasonable rate of $5 you ride all day.  This is much better than having a transfer that expires in two hours.  Sometimes drivers would have the discretion to extend it.  It also eliminates excess garbage in the fare boxes.  It saves money for the riders and it also increase ridership.  Portland like most Pacific Northwest cities with the exception of Seattle has seen a decrease in ridership due to unfriendly transit policies.  Allow these day passes to be used on the MAX line as well as the buses.  You increase ridership and increase revenue.  Then Mr Sizzler can just his big shot salary that Multnomah, Clackamas and Washington County taxpayers can not afford but must pay.

  1. We discussed this on twitter the other day. Trimet does have the $5 day ticket which is a good deal.
However riders used to be able to do a quick trip to the store down the street for $2.05. That's what Trimet needs to bring back, the cheap bus fare

  2. One thing I have found even if gas prices go down the bus fare does not. Only if we made an act that required bus fare to be tied to gas prices
