Aftermath of Anchorage Municipal Election

Last Tuesday voters in Anchorage have decided that the last two years of the Anchorage Assembly may have a progressive leaning.  However since Dick Traini has no intentions of being the mayor of Anchorage.  My prediction is that Paul Honeman will become the chair of the assembly with Elvi Gray-Jackson as vice chair.  If Dick Traini gets any grand idea to repeal Anchorage Ordinance 37 he needs to have eight votes to override a Sullivan veto.  Now if Dan Sullivan becomes Lt Governor then Interim mayor Paul Honeman could suspend the actions of Ordinance 37 if the voters do not vote it down in the previous November election.  The results may be 6-5 against the mayor.  You need to examine each member.  For the next month the Ernie Hall controlled assembly could pass some ordinance that a Honeman assembly may have to deal with.  Ernie Hall ran as Lt Governor in 2002 has part of the Fran Ulmer he is a Democrat who may decide to vote with this majority.  Bill Starr is also unpredictible then there is the stoaway Patrick Flynn who does not make up his mind till vote time.  It is too bad that voters in East Anchorage have decided to support Pete Petersen.  We do have two new kids on the block which are Bill Evans and Pete Petersen.  School Board decided to keep the overspenders Pat Higgins and Kameron Perez-Veredia as we know the Alaska Democrat Party and Anchorage Education Association choose your school board.  You can also blame Don Smith's gaffe for Kameron's victory.  Prediction if Paul Honeman wins the 2015 Anchorage mayors race then Mao Tosi could be his replacement.  Let's enjoy the ride on SS Anchorage as the players on Assembly island change.
